How long will I be in Ukraine when I adopt?

On average you will be in Ukraine for 4-8 weeks. If both parents are adopting both adoptive parents must be at the SDA adoption referral appointment and the adoption court hearing. After that, one or both adopting parents may leave and return or stay in Ukraine to be with and bond with their Ukrainian adopted child. Please see the adoption process and timing estimates for a detailed timeline. The time in Ukraine is extremely important to bond with your child and learn more about the culture they come from.
