How long will I be in Ukraine when I adopt?
On average, you will be in Ukraine for 6-8 weeks. If both parents are adopting, both adoptive parents must attend the adoption referral appointment at the Ukrainian Ministry and the adoption court hearing. After that, one or both adopting parents may leave and return or stay in Ukraine to be with and bond with their Ukrainian child. Please see the adoption process and timing estimates for a typical detailed timeline. The time in Ukraine is extremely important to bond with the child and learn more about the child’s culture.
